A Drain man was jailed Tuesday morning for an alleged prior assault incident.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said on October 14th a deputy responded to the 6000 block of Upper Smith River Road after an alleged assault was called in. The victim was running away from the 38-year-old suspect after he reportedly attempted to break her finger and would not let her leave. The victim was found hiding next to the road in a ditch and was transported to a hospital by medical personnel.

The deputy continued to look for and call the suspect. The man was located Tuesday at 6:00 a.m. in an undisclosed location. He was charged with fourth-degree assault and coercion. The man was detained without bail.
