Covering coastal Douglas County:
Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man for an alleged assault incident early Tuesday.
A DCSO report said at approximately 2:30 a.m. a caller said they could hear sounds of a domestic violence situation, and a DUII driver at Umpqua Dunes RV Park in the Winchester Bay area. A deputy arrived on scene and contacted the 44-year-old suspect who said he had gotten into a verbal argument with his roommate. The man was intoxicated, according to the report. The other party came outside and had a deep laceration to the top of her right eyebrow. She also had a black eye and was spitting out blood. The woman told the deputy that the two had gotten into a disagreement.
She agreed to have her laceration looked at and was later transported to Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport for treatment. The suspect told the deputy that the disagreement had been over finances. He was charged with fourth degree assault and transported to corrections. The man was detained without bail.
