Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged theft incident on Saturday.
An RPD report said at 5:20 p.m. officers contacted the 36-year-old after he matched the description of a suspect who had allegedly just stolen two small bottles of liquor from a business in the 1300 block of Northeast Stephens Street.
The man admitted that he may have forgotten to purchase the bottles. Staff was contacted and it was confirmed that the man had stolen the alcohol. Officers grabbed onto the suspect’s arm to place him in handcuffs, but he reportedly stiffened his arms to prevent being taken into custody, despite being told that he was under arrest.
Officers later reviewed video footage showing that the man had committed the theft. He was charged with third-degree theft and resisting arrest. Bail was set at $1,250.
