Two occupants received minor injuries following a single vehicle rollover crash early Thursday.

An Oregon State Police report said at 3:15 a.m. a trooper responded to the wreck on Highway 38, about nine miles west of Elkton. A westbound SUV had left the roadway, after the driver said he was distracted while visiting with the second occupant.

The report said the vehicle traveled into the ditch until it struck a catch basin and a driveway easement. The SUV then catapulted, rolling end over end until coming to an uncontrolled rest in the eastbound lane of travel. Both occupants declined medical treatment, as they had minor bruising and cuts.

Alcohol was located in the vehicle, but the 19-year-old driver did not show any signs of impairment. Both the driver and the passenger received a citation or warning, but OSP did not provide specific information in the report. A towing company recovered the vehicle and gave the occupants a ride back to the Sutherlin area.
