Covering coastal Douglas County:

A Reedsport woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Saturday.

An Oregon State Police report said at approximately 10:45 a.m. troopers responded to the wreck on Highway 42, about four miles east of Powers, in Coos County.

The preliminary investigation revealed that an eastbound vehicle, driven by 37-year-old Heather Renee Leach, lost control and spun into the westbound lane. The vehicle struck a westbound pickup operated by a Grants Pass man, head on.

Leach was declared deceased at the scene.

The operator of the pickup and a passenger were both injured and transported to an area hospital.

The highway was impacted for approximately two hours. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

OSP was assisted by several police and fire agencies.
