Nearly 200 Oregon National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 1st Battalion, 186th Infantry Regiment return home to Oregon on Friday after serving for a year overseas. The soldiers were mobilized in October 2024 and stationed in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt as part of the Multinational Force and Observers mission.
The 186th Infantry Regiment has headquarters in Southern Oregon and will have approximately 150 soldiers from the unit return to Medford. An additional group of approximately 50 service members will also arrive in Portland.
While deployed, the unit supervised the implementation of the security provisions of the Egyptian-Israeli Treaty of Peace, preventing any violation of its terms, according to a release from the Oregon Military Department.
