ODFW reminding deer hunters about CWD testing

Oct. 1, 2025 9:20 a.m.

The 2025 deer and elk hunting seasons begin soon, and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is ramping up its Chronic Wasting Disease surveillance statewide.

It is mandatory for hunters to stop at a CWD check station if they pass one while transporting harvested wildlife. Look for posted highway signs alerting you of an upcoming check station.

Stations will be located at Celilo Park, Prineville, Elgin Rodeo Grounds, Baker City, North Fork John Day Ranger Station in Ukiah and The Riley Store in Riley.
