Roseburg Fire to begin issuing burn permits

Sept. 30, 2025 6:45 a.m.

The Roseburg Fire Department will begin issuing residential burn permits on Wednesday.

Permits are issued for a seven-day stretch and cost $75. They’re available through Oct. 31.

Call 541-492-6770 on weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to request a burn permit in the city of Roseburg. Permits can also be requested online through the City’s website.

There are restrictions as to what is permitted for residential burning. Prohibited items include trash; standing berry vines, grass and weeds; paper, wood or plastics; tires; construction material; and material from lot clearing.

Burning may not be done on vacant lots or someone else’s property. Fires must be monitored by a competent adult and extinguished prior to nightfall. Tools to control or extinguish the fire must be on-site whenever material is burning.

Burn barrels are not allowed inside city limits. Anyone burning trash or burning without a permit may be subject to a fine and/or legal action.

If possible, residents are urged to use alternatives to burning such as composting, chipping, mulching or transporting the debris to the Douglas County Landfill.
