The United Community Action Network Food Bank has scheduled their Empty Bowls Project Dinner fundraiser for Monday, October 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Joyce Morgan Food Distribution Center on UCAN’s campus.
A UCAN release said Empty Bowl’s is UCAN’s annual community event to fight hunger. Local potters, craftspeople, educators and community members create handcrafted bowls, and attendees enjoy the experience of selecting a bowl and sharing a meal of soup and bread. At the end of the evening, guests can take their bowl home as a reminder of empty bowls in the community or donate it back for future years.
A long list of local restaurants and businesses are participating and donating to the dinner. The evening will also include music and both wine and craft beer from several local wineries and beer outlets.
UCAN Food Bank Manager Val Gordon said this year’s goal is to raise $75,000 to help feed hope in Douglas County. Gordon said, “With food costs climbing, the demand has reached an all-time high”.
Tickets are $40 per person, or $45 at the door and can be purchased online at: https://www.ucancap.org/empty-bowls-dinner/
