Travel spending in Douglas County saw a small decrease in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to a recent study done by research firm Dean Runyan Associates.
The firm reports that travelers spent $316.2 million in Douglas County in 2024, down almost $3 million from the same period in 2023.
Douglas County ranked 11th out of the 36 counties in Oregon in 2024. Multnomah County was first with $4.2 billion, and Lane County was second at $1.4 billion.
Visitors largely spent money on food services, followed by accommodations and then arts, entertainment and recreation.
Food services saw a 2.9% increase in spending, while local transportation and gas saw a nearly 9% decrease in spending.
Over 75% of the travel spending was done in eastern Douglas County, which includes Roseburg. Coastal Douglas County received almost 23% of travel spending.
Tax revenue from travel spending was $11.9 million, according to the firm.
