ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MEN FOR UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

Roseburg Police jailed two men for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Tuesday night.

An RPD report said at 10:30 p.m. officers took a report of a vehicle that had been stolen from the 700 block of Southeast Jackson Street. The victim reported that he parked outside a store and left his key in the ignition while he went inside. While officers were taking the report, deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle in Green and initiated a traffic stop.

A 23-year-old Sutherlin man was the driver with a 23-year-old Winston man the passenger. Through the investigation, it was determined that both occupants knew the vehicle was stolen. Both were taken into custody and transported to corrections. Each were also charged with a parole violation and were detained without bail. The victim was given a courtesy ride to pick up their vehicle.
