Roseburg Police jailed a man after a stolen vehicle was recovered on Monday.

An RPD report said at 10:00 a.m. officers located the SUV driving eastbound on Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. Officers stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Northwest Highland Street and Northeast Chestnut Avenue. The driver, 35-year-old Marcus Dawson, was taken into custody.

Dawson admitted that he did not know who the SUV belonged to and claimed he got it from a friend. Dawson is a convicted felon and consented to a search of the vehicle, which allegedly yielded a 9mm pistol.

Dawson was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm, and a parole violation. Dawson was detained without bail.
