A transient was jailed for third-degree theft and a parole violation on Tuesday evening.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 6:20 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to an establishment in the 5700 block of Northeast Stephens Street in the Winchester area after an employee said a man had committed a dine and dash.

The employee said the suspect was walking southbound on Stephens Street. The deputy located a 33-year-old man matching the description of the suspect. He still had ketchup on his nose and beard. The man admitted that he forgot his wallet and took off after finishing the meal.

His parole officer authorized a detainer. The man was detained without bail.
