On Friday, the Umpqua Public Transportation District announced that it will be reducing services beginning September 15th, following significant delays in both federal and state funding allocations.

UPTD Chief Operations Officer George Carrillo said, “These reductions were not a choice but a necessity”. Carrillo said, “This is not something UPTD could have prevented. Special districts across Oregon and throughout the nation are being impacted by these same funding delays. We know these changes affect people’s lives, and we will continue to pursue every possible option to restore service as quickly as possible”.

On August 27th, the UPTD board voted to implement these service changes:

*Yellow-line – eliminated until further notice

*Red-line – will operate from 6:35 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

*Green-line – will operate from 10:09 a.m. to 4:05 p.m.

*Grey-line – will operate from 7:08 a.m. to 6:28 p.m.

*Blue-line – will operate from 6:35 a.m. to 6:05 p.m.

A release from UPTD said the service changes are temporary. The district said it is doing everything possible to identify solutions, including outreach to local government for discretionary funding support. While no outcome is guaranteed, UPTD’s hope is to expand services as funding improves, with the goal of beginning restoration in the first quarter of 2026.
