City of Roseburg buildings will be closed on Monday, September 1st, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
That means that Roseburg City Hall, the Public Safety Center, Roseburg Public Library and other city buildings will not be open to the public. Police and firefighters will continue to provide public safety throughout the holiday.
Roseburg parks, the Fir Grove Park Splash Pad, and the Stewart Park Golf course will be open to the public throughout the holiday weekend. The Splash Pad will close for the season at dusk on Monday.
Labor Day is observed on the first Monday in September. First celebrated in the 1880’s Labor Day is a federal holiday recognizing American workers’ contributions to the country’s prosperity and social and economic strength. In 1887, Oregon became the first state to pass a law recognizing Labor Day. It became a federal holiday in 1894.
