A Salem woman was cited for eluding in a motor vehicle on Thursday evening.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 9:10 p.m. a deputy was traveling northbound on Northeast Stephens Street near Northwest Stewart Parkway in Roseburg. The deputy observed that a pickup was being driven without its lights on.
The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle however it failed to yield. The deputy followed the pickup on Stewart Parkway at speeds of 30 to 40 miles per hour. For over two miles the vehicle never showed any signs of stopping and continued unaffected.
The pickup finally pulled over into the parking lot of a business on Stewart Parkway, where the driver reportedly ignored commands. Eventually the driver opened the door and stated she didn’t understand what was going on.
The 28-year-old admitted she should have stopped her vehicle but didn’t want to since she wasn’t speeding. She was advised of the actual reason for the traffic stop and argued about that as well.
The woman was released after the citation was issued.
