DINT ARRESTS TWO MEN: DRUG AND FIREARMS CHARGES

August 14, 2025 5:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team arrested two men in the Curtin area.

DINT Commander Lieutenant Rick McArthur said detectives had reason to believe that criminal activity was taking place at the location and obtained a search warrant for the property. At approximately 3:00 p.m., detectives executed the search warrant, with assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Eight people were detained.

McArthur said a search of the property revealed approximately 30 growing marijuana plants, 12 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and multiple firearms. None of the marijuana was being grown legally under Oregon law.

47-year-old Shaun Borg was suspected of being responsible for the illegally growing marijuana plants, as well as the suspected meth found at the location. Borg was also allegedly found to be in possession of 4 firearms. McArthur said as a previously convicted felon, Borg is prohibited from possessing firearms under Oregon law. Borg was charged with unlawful possession of both methamphetamine and marijuana, unlawful manufacture of marijuana, and four counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $10,000.

52-year-old Jason Newman was also suspected of being responsible for some of the marijuana plants. He was cited and released from the scene for unlawful possession and manufacture of marijuana.

McArthur said all the other people were released at the scene.
