Roseburg Police jailed a man on 13 charges following a fraud investigation on Tuesday.

An RPD report said shortly before 3:30 p.m. officers contacted 33-year-old Justin Vancil of Myrtle Creek after he was identified as the suspect in the case. Vancil had allegedly been fraudulently cashing checks at banks and mobile deposit, under accounts not owned by him. Over the course of nearly a month, Vancil reportedly attempted to cash three checks with a total value of $1,200.

Vancil was allegedly found to be in possession of two of the checks when he was contacted as well as multiple debit cards that did not belong to him.

He was charged with four counts of identity theft, three counts of negotiating a bad check, two counts of computer crime, and first-degree counts of forgery, criminal possession of a forged instrument, theft and attempted theft, and for attempting to commit a class C felony. Vancil was detained without bail.
