The Pouring Generosity campaign from the United Community Action Network’s Food Bank continues through the end of August.
Now in its eighth year, the campaign invites community members to support the county’s emergency food system by visiting participating Umpqua Valley wineries, local brew breweries and coffer brewers. The goal of the campaign is to raise $20,000 to help fight hunger across Douglas County.
UCAN Food Bank Manager Val Gordon said, “This year, we have seen a record number of people accessing emergency food. With so many people in need, it is great to see so many local businesses stepping up to help”. Gordon said, “They are truly feeding hope in our community”.
As part of the Oregon Food Bank statewide network, the UCAN Food Bank has more buying power when it comes to food. For every $1 dollar contributed, they can leverage 3 meals or 4 to 5 pounds of food.
