Five people are dead, and a murder-suicide investigation is underway in Josephine County.
A release from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said on Monday, shortly after 9:30 a.m. deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of Hussey Lane, in the Picket Creek area, after receiving a request to check on the welfare of the residents in the home. It was reported that an adult female at the residence had uncharacteristically not shown up for work that morning.
Deputies and Oregon State Police responded to the address and entered the residence after observing suspicious conditions around the property. Upon entry, law enforcement discovered five persons who appeared to have been killed by a firearm. The deceased victims, 42-year-old Hannah Marie Behee, male juveniles ages 9 and 11, and a female juvenile age 7, were discovered in the home with gunshot wounds. The deceased adult male, 40-year-old Scott Behee, is believed to be the suspect in a murder-suicide incident.
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has requested that the Oregon State Police lead the investigation with the assistance of the Grants Pass Police Department.
