August 2, 2025 8:50 a.m.

A Cottage Grove man was cited after a DUII crash early Saturday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said shortly before 2:30 a.m. the 18-year-old was driving westbound on Bear Creek Road near the intersection with Jacob Acers Lane in the Curtin area, when he overcorrected and wrecked, causing his pickup to roll and hit a tree. The man had two teenage passengers in his vehicle.

Upon contact, all three people appeared intoxicated. Both passengers were transported to Cottage Grove Hospital, then transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. The driver agreed to standard field sobriety tests and reportedly showed clear signs of intoxication. He was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants. The man provided a blood alcohol sample of 0.15. He was cited and released to a sober adult for DUII and two counts of reckless endangering. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
