A home north of Roseburg is considered a total loss following a fire on Thursday evening.
A report from Central Douglas Fire and Rescue said at 5:25 p.m. crews responded to a structure fire on Brozio Road, off Del Rio Road. Battalion Chief Mitch Doss said initial reports were that the house was fully engulfed and the fire was spreading to the surrounding vegetation.
Doss said when firefighters arrived, they found a structure that was heavily involved in fire. All occupants were able to get out on their own. Crews were able to extinguish the fire and contain it to the home itself with minimal extension to the wildland, thanks to assistance from the Douglas Forest Protective Association. Doss said one occupant of the home was injured and transported by Umpqua Valley Ambulance to CHI Mercy Medical Center for further care and evaluation.
CDF&R responded to the incident with 3 fire engines, 2 tenders and a command unit. The cause of the fire is undetermined. Doss said crews were also assisted by the Sutherlin Fire Department, Avista and Pacific Power.
