A rider was hospitalized following a motorcycle versus sedan crash on Saturday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 7:40 p.m. a 22-year-old was taking his classic 1964 vehicle for a test drive with three passengers inside in the 2100 block of Elgarose Road in the Melrose area. A 21-year-old man was riding in front of the vehicle on his motorcycle. They drove around Elgarose Loop and when they were approaching the motorist’s driveway, the motorcyclist drove past the driveway about 100 yards.

The motorcyclist turned around and started to ride back towards the driveway. The motorist thought he had enough time to turn into his driveway before the motorcyclist reached them and when he started turning, the motorcycle ended up crashing into the front side of the sedan.

The rider was ejected off the motorcycle and was initially unconscious. He was transported by ambulance to the Roseburg Regional Airport and then was life-flighted to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. The motorist was cited for making a dangerous left turn. Both vehicles were left at the scene.
