A home and multiple vehicles are a total loss following a fire in Winston early Friday morning.

Battalion Chief Mitch Doss of Central Douglas Fire & Rescue said just after 4:50 a.m. crews responded to the report of a fully engulfed home on Southeast Theodore Street. Doss said initial reports were that everyone was out of the house and the fire was spreading rapidly.

When crews arrived, they found that the fire had spread from the home to the attached garage. The fire had also spread to multiple cars and a motorhome that was parked near the house. Doss said crews were able to stop the forward progress of the fire and contained it to the property of origin. Fire damage was significant. No injuries were reported by the residents or the firefighters working at the scene.

Doss said CDF&R responded to the incident with 3 fire engines, an ambulance, and a command unit with a total of 13 personnel. The fire is believed to have been caused by an unattended barbecue on the porch. Crews were assisted by Umpqua Valley Ambulance, Avista and Pacific Power.
