COMMISSIONERS ISSUE PROCLAMATION FOR PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH

July 18, 2025 4:00 a.m.

Douglas County Commissioners Tim Freeman, Tom Kress, and Chris Boice issued a proclamation at their weekly business meeting on Wednesday, calling upon citizens to observe July as Parks and Recreation Appreciation Month.

A county release said the proclamation was presented by Commissioner Boice and acknowledged that, “We recognize that Douglas County is home to some of the most beautiful places on Earth, places that inspire us, captivate us and fill us with a sense of great pride”.

This month, the commissioners are celebrating the men and women of the county that work diligently to preserve, beautify and manage the 100 plus local, county, tribal, state and national parks, trails and recreational sites available in the county. Parks Appreciation Week proclamation certificates were presented to directors and staff from the County Parks Department, Parks Advisory Board, Salmon Harbor Marina, and a number of city and state parks staff from around the county.
