Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged theft on Tuesday.

An RPD report said at 8:00 a.m. the 39-year-old allegedly stole a mountain bike from Sonic Drive-In in the 1200 block of Northeast Stephens Street, while the owner was working. An officer identified the suspect from the business’s video surveillance. The bicycle was found next to the suspect’s mother’s motorhome, which was parked on the street behind the business.  The suspect was inside the motorhome but refused to open the door.

An officer located the suspect on a railroad property behind the Salvation Army in the 3000 block of Northeast Stephens Street. The man admitted to the theft. He was taken into custody and charged with first-degree criminal trespass and second-degree theft. Bail was set at $12,500.
