A California transient was jailed following a pursuit incident early Wednesday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 1:40 a.m. a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for violations in the area of Ingram Books and Speedway Road. The vehicle eluded onto Grant Smith Road and then onto Interstate Five northbound. Spikes were attempted at the Harvard Avenue northbound interchange by Roseburg Police Department and at the Garden Valley Boulevard interchange by DCSO.

The 47-year-old driver, later identified as Devon Farber, went off the roadway and into the on and off ramp medians on the northbound side of the freeway at the mile post 127 exit. Farber was the sole occupant and was taken into custody without issue. He was reportedly in possession of 16.5 grams of methamphetamine.

Farber was charged with attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Farber was detained on $10,000 bail.
