A transient was jailed following an incident at the Myrtle Creek Transfer Site on Wednesday.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 3:00 p.m. a deputy was contacted by a Solid Waste supervisor at the facility on North Myrtle Creek Road regarding a pending trespass.
40-year-old William Cundick had previously entered the transfer site and was reportedly upset about the amount he was being charged. After dumping his garbage, he approached the site attendant and told her he intended to return with more garbage to get his money’s worth. Cundick was informed that he would be charged again.
The deputy saw Cundick’s pickup enter the transfer site without even slowing down while entering. The man allegedly drove past the pay booth toward the garbage bin. The deputy asked Cundick to exit his vehicle, but the man argued with him. The deputy told the man that he was under arrest, but the man reportedly began to resist. After being placed into handcuffs, Cundick allegedly started yelling vulgar language at the deputy as the customers watched.
He was charged with second-degree counts of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Curdick was detained without bail. He was released on Thursday.
