The Oregon State University Extension Service and the Douglas County chapter of the Master Gardener Association welcome veterans to attend the Boots on the Ground, Hands in the Soil series this summer.
Workshops will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the last Friday of the month at the Discovery Garden, next to River Forks Park, northwest of Roseburg.
This summer, veterans will have the opportunity to reconnect with the land and each other through a new hands-on agricultural program. This is a free, four-part series set to run monthly through September.
Designed specifically for veterans, the program offers a unique blend of practical farming instruction and community engagement. Participants will engage in a variety of activities focused on soil health, crop planting, harvesting techniques and sustainable agricultural practices.
Enrollment is free, but space is limited. Veterans interested in participating are encouraged to register early. To sign-up for the Boots on the Ground series, visit https://beav.es/iHt or call OSU Extension in Douglas County at 672-4461.
