COUPLE FROM DRAIN FOUND DECEASED, OFF BLM ROAD ON SATURDAY

May 28, 2025 9:20 a.m.

A couple from Drain was found deceased on Saturday off a Bureau of Land Management Road in the Tyee area.

Information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office released on Wednesday, said at 5:00 p.m. a caller notified dispatch, that they were out scouting for bear season and had found two deceased individuals on the side of a clear cut. The location was behind a locked Weyerhaeuser gate, in the Brush Creek area off BLM Road 24-8-35 1.

The area is very steep, and the road has several sharp corners. Deputies were able to locate where a vehicle left the roadway and rolled down the clear-cut. The couple had been in a older SUV.

The deceased were identified as 55-year-old Anthony Forbes and 50-year Mandi Forbes. The DCSO report said there was evidence that alcohol could have played a factor in the crash. Neither person was wearing a seatbelt.

Search and Rescue personnel stayed at the accident scene on Saturday night. The bodies were recovered Sunday.
