Under 10 percent of ballots have come in for the 2025 Douglas County May Special Districts Election with the election deadline coming on Tuesday.
County Clerk Daniel Loomis said 9.58 percent, or 8,391 ballots, have been received as of late Friday afternoon. Loomis said that lags 4.75 percent behind the participation rate for the same point in the last special districts election in 2023.
Those who take their ballot to the Post Office this close to Election Day should ask staff to stamp their envelope with a hand-cancellation stamp. A ballot with a postmark after May 20th will not be counted.
Voters can use one of the 15 official ballot drop sites until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day and be assured their ballot will be received and counted.
