FLY-IN-PIG BBQ COMPETITION RETURNS TO MYRTLE CREEK

May 16, 2025 3:20 a.m.

The Fly-In-Pig BBQ competition is returning to Myrtle Creek this weekend.

The second annual event will take place at the Myrtle Creek Municipal Airport on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Sampling the Pacific Northwest”. Guests are invited to taste their way through award-winning barbecue, along with regional craft beverages, live bluegrass music and more, all set up against the unique background of an active airport.

From brisket and ribs to pulled pork and chicken, pitmasters and backyard BBQ champs will fire up their smokers for a chance at $10,000 in prize money. That includes People’s Choice and Grand Champion awards. The event is an official BBQ competition which is approved by the Pacific Northwest BBQ Association.

Other highlights include live fire cooking and regional food vendors, a veterans’ tribute on Saturday, voting for favorite foods and drinks, camel rides, axe throwing, vintage airport displays and more.
