Roseburg Police jailed a man on a felony assault charge early Tuesday morning.

An RPD report said at approximately 5:00 a.m. officers responded to a physical disturbance between two people at a residence in the 1300 block of Northwest Keasey Street. The 31-year-old suspect allegedly head-butted the victim in the face, causing her nose to split open.

The victim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for her injuries. The suspect was identified as Gauge Stokes and was taken into custody on the charge of fourth-degree assault and transported to corrections. Stokes was detained on $50,000 bail.
