May 5, 2025 2:50 a.m.

The Fly-in Pig BBQ Competition returns to Myrtle Creek and organizers say it will be bigger, bolder and tastier than ever.

The second annual event will take place on Saturday, May 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Myrtle Creek Municipal Airport.

This year’s theme is “Sampling the Pacific Northwest”. Guests are invited to taste their way through a weekend of award-winning barbecue, regional craft beverages and live bluegrass music.

From brisket and ribs to pulled pork and chicken, pitmasters and backyard BBQ champs will fire up their smokers for a chance at $10,000 in prize money, including People’s Choice and Grand Champion awards.

The event will feature a family-friendly and pet-friendly atmosphere and will include a veteran’s tribute on Sunday, camel rides, axe throwing, vintage aircraft displays, and more.
