A Reedsport man was jailed following a reported disturbance and assault on Friday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 5:00 p.m. deputies responded to the incident near the intersection of Highway 38 and Paradise Road in the Elkton area. 39-year-old Michael Kettman was wanted and allegedly observed in a disturbance by Parole and Probation officers. While waiting for the Oregon State Police to respond, Kettman reportedly became aggressive and fought with law enforcement officers that were on the scene.

Kettman allegedly caused injury to a deputy’s forearm. While being transported to jail, the man reportedly kicked and bashed the plastic in the transport areas of the patrol vehicle, causing damage. Prior to arriving at the jail, Kettman had discharged saliva onto the deputy’s person, from the small window dividing the rear and front.

Kettman was charged with assaulting a public safety officer, aggravated harassment, first-degree criminal mischief and for warrants. He was detained without bail.
