OPTIMIST CLUB CELEBRATING 80 YEARS SINCE WORLD WAR II LIBERATION

May 1, 2025 2:50 a.m.

The Roseburg Optimist Club is celebrating 80 years since the World War II liberation, at a special event on Tuesday night May 6th.

Author Clarice Wilsey will speak about her father, who was one of 27 doctors who entered the Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany during its liberation. While he was there, Wilsey’s father wrote to his daughter and shared details about what he was doing and where he was. This will be an opportunity to get a once in a lifetime glimpse into history.

The Roseburg Optimist event will be held at the Umpqua Valley Arts building on West Harvard Avenue. Admission is $5 for parents. Children aged 14 to 18 will get in for free.
