A Coos Bay man was jailed following a single-vehicle accident on Highway 38 on Monday afternoon.

An Oregon State Police said shortly after 1:00 p.m. the 38-year-old man was traveling east on the highway, about a mile and a half east of Elkton when he lost control of his vehicle, and it struck a guardrail. The man was later found in Drain and reportedly displayed signs of impairment. He consented to standard field sobriety tests and refused a breath test. A warrant was obtained, and a blood sample was taken.

The man, identified as 38-year-old Brian Obannon, was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, failure to perform the duties of a driver with property damage, third-degree criminal mischief and for a warrant. Obannon was detained without bail.
