The YMCA of Douglas County is hosting its annual Healthy Kids Day this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
This free, family-friendly event is part of a nationwide celebration designed to inspire healthy habits and kick off a summer of fun as well as safety for families.
Healthy Kids Day will feature a wide range of activities including bounce houses, a visit from the REACH helicopter at 9:00 a.m., art with Umpqua Valley Arts, fun with Thundering Water, 4-H, Lego robotics and more.
Families will not only get to connect with over 40 local community partners and resources regarding upcoming summer youth activities, but also receive information on a mission that’s deeply important to the YMCA – water safety awareness.
In addition to free youth life jackets that are given out while supplies last, the Douglas County Marine Patrol, along with its boat, will be demonstrating and giving information about water rescue and water temperature. The Y’s Aquatics Department will also have details about swimming lessons, upcoming lifeguard courses and more.
YMCA of Douglas County CEO Steven Stanfield said, “Our annual Healthy Kid’s Day shines a spotlight on the importance of physical activity and wellness for our youth. Together with our partners, we provide resources and activities that inspire kids to move, learn and grow”.
The YMCA of Douglas County is located on Northwest Stewart Parkway in Roseburg. The event will be held in the Y gym and the adjoining parking lot.
