A Roseburg man last seen Wednesday afternoon was found deceased Thursday afternoon as a result of a motorcycle accident. A search effort had been initiated after he was reported missing.
Undersheriff Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said 63-year-old Terry Kruh hadn’t been seen since 5:00 p.m. when he left for a motorcycle ride on his 2004 yellow Harley Davidson. O’Dell said friends had been attempting to reach Kruh by phone since he did not meet up with them as planned. A friend who had a key to Kruh’s residence entered his home to check on him Thursday morning and discovered he had not returned as his motorcycle and riding gear were missing.
DCSO was notified and a search effort began. O’Dell said a ping on Kruh’s cellphone revealed his motorcycle was stationary and somewhere in a large area encompassing Green/Winston/Dillard and Lookingglass. While Search and Rescue and deputies were driving roadways in the ping area, a friend located Kruh in the 6600 block of Roberts Creek Road along with his motorcycle at approximately 2:45 p.m. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and confirmed that Kruh was deceased.
O’Dell said a preliminary investigation revealed that Kruh was traveling westbound on Roberts Creek Road when he apparently failed to negotiate a sharp corner. His motorcycle left the roadway and came to rest 20 feet down a steep embankment along a fence line in the blackberry bushes.
O’Dell said anyone with information which may aid in the crash investigation is asked to call DCSO at 440-4471.
