A Grants Pass woman died in a single vehicle accident east of Glide on Monday evening.

An Oregon State Police report released Thursday afternoon said at 6:40 p.m. troopers responded to the wreck on Highway 138E near milepost 28.5 in the Idleyld Park area.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a large SUV, operated by 65-year-old Craig Francis Hindle of Merlin, crossed the highway for unknown reasons, left the eastbound shoulder and struck a tree.

The passenger in the vehicle, 34-year-old Scoti Allena Hoadley, was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle suffered reportedly minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
