One man was arrested for a felony drug charge, and one was detained for a failure to register charge by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

A DCSO report said at 9:00 a.m. a deputy contacted 62-year-old Steven Myers of Roseburg in his vehicle in the 200 block of Bear Creek Road in Curtin. Myers had strewn trash around his vehicle on the ground and the deputy reportedly noticed a methamphetamine pipe in the center console of the vehicle.  Myers stepped out of the vehicle and told the deputy that he only had a little bit of meth still on him. Ultimately the deputy reportedly seized 83.5 grams of meth on his person. His vehicle was searched, and other items were seized for a potential drug charge. He was charged with unlawful possession of meth and was detained without bail.

The deputy located a 49-year Eugene transient across the street during the interaction and dispatch advised that he was a sex offender and had not registered since 2020 and was out of compliance. He was detained for failure to register as a sex offender and was detained without bail. The man was released early on Thursday.
