Roseburg Police jailed a man for a reported overnight theft incident early Monday.

An RPD report said at approximately 2:50 a.m. officers contacted the 30-year-old Myrtle Creek man after he was called in for refusing to leave WinCo Foods in the 2700 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway and eating merchandise without paying for it.

The suspect admitted to eating the merchandise without paying, and said he did not have any intention of paying or leaving the property. He was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree theft. The man was detained on $2,500 bail.
