A Eugene man was jailed for an alleged DUII and resisting arrest incident on Friday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 4:00 p.m. a deputy stopped a pickup near the intersection of Eagle Valley Road and Applegate Road in the Yoncalla area. The driver, 22-year-old Keil Briggs, was showing signs of impairment and was allegedly aggravated and hostile. Briggs was told to exit his vehicle several times but reportedly refused. When he finally complied, the deputy went to place the man into handcuffs, but Briggs turned and faced the deputy, then allegedly went to push him.

The deputy was able to take Briggs to the ground, but the man was reportedly kicking and pushing the deputy, not following commands. Briggs was wrestled to his stomach where the deputy was able to gain control of his arms. Citizens were able to stop and help the deputy get the man into custody.

Briggs was taken to jail, and the deputy was granted a warrant for his blood. His blood was taken, and he was lodged.  The man was charged with driving under the influence of an intoxicant, reckless driving and resisting arrest. Briggs was detained without bail.
