WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MOUNTAIN AREAS ABOVE 4,500 FEET

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 5:00 p.m. Thursday through 11:00 a.m. Friday above 4,500 feet in the High Central Cascades in Douglas, Klamath and Jackson counties.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 15 inches, except locally higher amounts up to 20 inches near Crater Lake. Winds are forecast to gust between 30 and 50 miles per hour over exposed areas.

The Advisory area includes Diamond Lake, Crater Lake and portions of highways 62, 230 and 138.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Snow levels will fall from 5,500 feet early Thursday evening to 4,000 to 4,500 feet Friday morning.
