The Salvation Army Roseburg Corps is seeking help from the community as they hope to purchase a new truck to help with their food pantry through the Drive Away Hunger campaign.
Commanding Officer Captain Edith Dye-Mabie said, “The truck is vital to moving materials and keeping our pantry stocked for the benefit of the community at large, and as an important resource in emergency situations”.
Dye-Mabie said their current truck is on its last leg and can’t be taken on the freeway or out of the immediate area.
Dye-Mabie said the situation hinders their ability to build a donations base for fresh produce, other perishables, and donated food items. Additionally, the truck is integral to the overall functionality of warehouse operations. That includes being able to recycle scrap metal, rag sales, contributions to and from partner agencies, and other outreach in the community like the drive-thru food box event for veterans, held at the Roseburg VA.
The truck the Roseburg Corp is looking for is a newer NRR Isuzu Cabover Diesel 16 ft with an aluminum lift gate.
