In the KQEN Business Spotlight:

A popular brewpub in Winston is for sale.

Lookingglass Brewery co-owner Mark Nunnelee started the business in 2015 and began brewing officially in October of that year. In 2016 Nunnelee and his wife Lydia leased 1,000 square feet of the building they are currently in on Main Street, near the center of the community. They purchased the entire 4,000 square foot building in 2017. In 2019 the growing brewery took over the entire building and a $400,000 remodeling project began. The business has stayed busy and is known for usually being filled with customers, eager to sample Lookingglass’s wide variety of craft beers.

For Nunnelee, brewing beer is a second career. He spent over 23 years working for NASA at Edwards Air Force Base in California. As operations manager over a staff of mechanics and technicians, Nunnelee’s work included designing parts for test and flight purposes. He was awarded two patents during his tenure. The family moved to Roseburg in 2008 where Nunnelee became the assistant district manager for the Bureau of Land Management. He retired about a year and a half later after 25 years of civil service.

Nunnelee told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the brewery has received numerous awards. He said the best part of the business is all the great people he has met. However, due to issues with his health, Nunnelee has put Lookingglass up for sale.

Nunnelee describes Lookingglass Brewery as having a long list of state-of-the-art equipment in a prime location. He said it is the only brewery between Roseburg and Grants Pass. The sale price is $1.9 million which includes the business, and the commercial property. More information about the business’s property and equipment is linked at: https://www.lgbrewpub.com/
