Roseburg Police cited a man for an alleged prior hit and run incident on Friday.
An RPD report said at 4:00 p.m. a victim reported that on March 21st, a Jeep Compass had crashed into her vehicle near the intersection of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard and Northwest Crouch Street, before driving away from the scene.
Multiple witnesses reported and confirmed the victim’s account of the incident. The vehicle that crashed into the victim’s left the front license plate, which was ripped off during the crash. The suspect vehicle’s license plate came back registered to a rental car company based out of Washington State.
Later in the day, an officer saw the suspect vehicle and stopped it, contacting a 42-year-old man as the driver. The man admitted to being involved in the incident but denied that his vehicle had hit any others. Officers observed obvious damage to the front end of the suspect’s vehicle, and the front license plate had been ripped off.
The man was cited for failure to perform the duties of a driver when property is damaged. He was cited and released on the scene.
