A Roseburg area man was charged with third-degree assault Tuesday for an alleged prior incident.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 2:20 p.m. a deputy took information about possible child abuse in the 100 block of Berry Loop Lane in Green. Through an investigation, and numerous interviews, the deputy learned that the 27-year-old was allegedly involved in an altercation where he grabbed a minor child by his shirt and/or neck and left bruises and scratches that were still visible after 5 days.

The man was detained without bail. Child welfare officials responded and conducted safety plans for the remaining children.
