The Oregon Department of Corrections has reported that an adult in custody, 63-year-old Shannon Wade Spencer died on the evening of March 7th.

Spencer was incarcerated at Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem and passed away at a local hospital. He entered DOC custody on February 12th, 2019, from Douglas County with a projected release date of May 10th, 2027.

DOC is responsible for the care and custody of approximately 12,000 men and women who are incarcerated in 12 institutions across the state. Spencer’s next of kin was notified.
