CLEANUP OF ROCKSLIDE BEGINS WEDNESDAY

March 5, 2025 4:10 a.m.

Crews with Douglas County Public Works are beginning cleanup of a rockslide which took place Sunday night northwest of Roseburg.

County Lead Public Information Officer Tamara Howell said early Tuesday morning the department received a call reporting that more rock had fallen into the roadway near the 11000 block of Garden Valley Road. Howell said Public Works dispatched an operator to the site. He removed a few softball size rocks from the roadway and noted the slide continues to dribble small amounts of rocks but said very few are making it to the road.

Public Works has installed signs warning drivers to watch for falling rocks in this area. Motorists should note that road cleanup may impact drive time. Flaggers are controlling the work zone with that section of Garden Valley Road reduced to a single lane at times. Delays of up to 20 minutes should be expected.
